Hmm, not sure this video does the English Democrats' cause in Crewe & Nantwich much good. It's quite good for the first minute and a half, but then it appears the producer got pissed... Stick with it to then end and you will see what I mean.

Happily, this latest one, a take on Kipling's If, is just as quirky and oddly charming as we've come to expect. Top stuff. It used to be said - with pride! - that Scotland was one of the few countries in the world in which both Coca-Cola and Pepsi had to give way to a market-leading indigenous pop. If memory serves this disconcerted the bosses in Atlanta, stinging them into setting up a scottish task force to topple Irn Bru. Clearly, this sort of soft drink imperialism must be resisted and it remains every Scots' duty to sacrifice their teeth to further the cause of the other national drink...

For some reason when you select the embed option in Youtube the code they provide includes tags. However these are big no-no’s in HTML. Youtube also have empty tags, which should really end with /> . On top of that I’ve still yet to work out why Youtube insist on having the video at [...]

Is It Time To Re-Appraise CHI?

So we've discussed how much they pay. But are they any good? Actually, I think maybe they are now. Here's the new spot for Drench mineral water. Puppets are funny. Fact. Okay so it drags a tiny bit - the 60 is probably better than the 90 - but the sight of Brains grabbing his crown jewels is not one I'll forget in a hurry. Even logic-fans will be thrilled, because all that lovely entertainment is fully justified with an endline about Brains performing best when hydrated. Exhibit B, this ad, with the remote-controlled plane. A funny idea, with great casting and great performances. What more do you want? Toyota is carving out quite a nice little VW-esque tone of voice for itself. And let's not forget the awesome 'Tide' spot for Big Yellow Storage. Even their print is getting better. I saw a cracking tube card the other day for the Prius. It was just a picture of the car, and the words "The bandwagon. By Toyota." CHI have always had some good Creatives - like Charles Inge, Mickey Tudor and Brian Turner. But the work was inconsistent. I thought the Telegraph 'Bestseller' campaign wasn't bad, and the Tango spoof was okay. But nearly everything else was abysmal. Especially British Gas. So why the improvement? Two words. Ewan Paterson. Since he joined, the graph has moved in only one direction. I like that. I like the fact that they have the same Suits and the same Planners, but a great new CD makes a great difference. I know Ewan from DDB days, so I'll probably get accused of arse-licking. It won't change the fact that he's doing a pretty nice job over there.

From the mighty popjustice , Sonny J's 'Handsfree (If You Hold My Hand)', which ticks all my boxes by having a) a lady with superheroish powers, and b) cool dance routines. Now mum's back home, I seem to have settled into a pleasant routing of going for a swim in the morning, then wandering over to mum's after lunch, so she can have a nice kip without having to worry about phones, people popping round and so on. And because there's no wi-fi over there, I actually have to get on with work, which means I've finished the first draft of the second ep of my Teen Drama Project two weeks early, woo hoo! I'm also helping out with the gardening. MUM: Try a bit of this rocket lettuce. I nibble on it. Mmm, rather hotter than I'm used to, but very nice. ME: Mmm. It's rather hotter than I'm used to, but very nice. MUM: Oooh, try this. She hands me a differently-shaped green leaf. I nibble it, cautiously. ME: Hmm. It's a bit sort of ... soapy. I chew away thoughtfully for a bit longer. ME: And slightly bitter. What is it? MUM: I don't know. Slight pause. ME: Bleeeeuuuugh.
