Country couple MIRANDA LAMBERT and BLAKE SHELTON are hoping fans like their low-key collaborative concerts - because they want to become the next TIM McGRAW and FAITH HILL. The pair is desperate to land a major tour together, believing they spend too much time apart. And so the couple has hit the road to test a Shelton/Lambert [...]

"Home" Boy Blake Shelton Scores Anotha #1(Yuяi)

First, we were at "Home" with Michael. Michael Bublé's "Home" scored a #1 on the Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart back in July 2005. "Home" is one of my favorites, and Michael's live performance of the tune is incredible. His live shows are so much fun. I'd jet to another one in a New York minute. Flash forward to this week: Blake Shelton, who served as a guest judge on Nashville Star for a couple of seasons (when it was on the USA Network), covered "Home" at the behest of his girlfriend, Miranda Lambert, who coincidentally was a contestant/finalist on Nashville Star at the same time Blake was a judge. Hmmmm ... can we say Paula scandal? Nah, we are not going to judge the fella... they make a cute couple. Apparently Miranda beats the holy hell out of him when he steps out of line, and he likes that kind of spunk. Ride 'em cowboy! Anyway, Blake's rendition of "Home" is now the #1 song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, which makes it his 4th #1 there. It's also the first time since 1992 that the same song -- performed by two different artists -- has hit No. 1 on the Country Songs and Adult Contemporary charts. The last time it happened was when Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" topped the Adult Contemporary chart back in 1992. Dolly reached No. 1 on the Country Songs chart with the song in 1982 and 1974. You gotta love Dolly! Keen Olga Loves Yuri readers will notice that Blake's "Home" hit the 'Best of '08 So Far' chart . Go figure!

Wisconsin State Fair day 3: Saturday August 2nd(noreply@blogger.com (The Game))

Main Stage Review: Blake Shelton gave the 4000 fans of the Main Stage at the Wisconsin State fair a heck of a show Saturday night. He has the hits, and "Austin" is one of the best country songs around. Blake has the fancy stage set up, expensive lights and the sort, but it is hit great songs that make the concert a good one. Besides that it was the first night of country at the State Fair and it was so nice to be around courteous and friendly people all day. Everyone says please and thank you. Blake even said "Thank you sir" as he left the stage Saturday night because I put a flashlight on his exit ramp. The fans listen well, they have fun and they are a please to interact with. I didn't get to see Jams Otto, but I was told that he did a great job and might have even sounded better than Blake. Today was the day I ate my way through the fair. Corn dog, cream puff, baked potato and Saz's to name a few. I was there for 3 hours with my wife and one year old son, and we need to go back because we simply could not see everything. The fair way packed and it should be...fun for everyone with perfect weather. The best 11 days of the fair continue.
Spears looks to contest finale()

Published August 06, 2008 09:45 am - Spears looks to contest finaleBy JOSH NEWTON TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS — After thrilling a live crowd and three judges last week, Tahlequah’s country music singer T.J. Spears is looking to the future.For the second time, Spears is part of Tulsa TV station KOTV Channel 6’s “Gimme the Mike!” contest. A week ago, his performance of Blake Shelton’s “Goodbye Time” drew a rousing ovation from fans who watched him perform at the Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa.Judge Jim Halsey, artist manager and agent for Roy Clark, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Judds and others, asked Spears if he also writes songs. Spears shook his head no, and Halsey encouraged him to learn.“I have to agree with him,” said Spears. “Writing songs is a talent all in itself, but I will take his advice and try a little writing.”The other judges – Angie DeVore-Green and Shari Townes – encouraged Spears to try taking his performance to the next level, like Nashville. But Spears has said all along that he wants to have a college degree under his belt before doing that.“Having judges say this to me is very encouraging,” said Spears. “It makes me feel pretty happy inside, and that someone besides my family and myself believes in me, and that I can truly go all the way with my talent.”Spears will now advance to compete against five others in the “Gimme the Mike!” finale Monday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m., live on Channel 6 from the Cain’s Ballroom.“It’s [as] exciting as the last time I moved forward,” said Spears, who participated in 2005’s contest as a finalist. “I performed to the best of my ability, to satisfy the judges and most of all, connect with my audience, and also have fun all at the same time.”Spears has chosen his finale song, but says it will be a surprise to listeners.“I can’t tell,” he said Monday. “Hopefully everyone will recognize my song selection, and most of all, I hope it’s the winning song.”
